Toby Goodshank & Boohoo

Boo Hoo is songwriter Bernhard Karakoulakis from Frankfurt/Germany. He writes and sings quiet folk songs telling simple stories about the sadness, joys and absurdities of modern life. In the last ten years Boo Hoo has played 300 shows in all of Europe having toured from north to south, from east to west and back again supporting acts like The Burning Hell, Herman Dune or Toby Goodshank. During two longer stays in New York he recorded his albums "Afghan Hounds" and "Olympic Village Blues" with producer Brian Speaker and many figures of the New York antifolk scene around Sidewalk Café. In 2016 Boo Hoo wrote and performed the music for the acclaimed play "Der Kalte Hauch des Geldes", a succesful original theatre play at Schauspiel Frankfurt, currently regared Germany's finest theatre house. In 2018 he released his first live album "Boo Hoo Live" on his newly established label "Lousy Moon Records”. Boo Hoo's music has been compared to Leonard Cohen, Iron and Wine and Sufjan Stevens.

Brooklyn-based artist Toby Goodshank made his high-profile musical debut playing acoustic guitar in The Moldy Peaches, but had long before embarked on a prolific solo career, recording and self-releasing 14 albums in a five-year span and touring Europe with artists including Jeffrey Lewis and Kimya Dawson. Goodshank’s style, while often centered around his solo guitar and singing abilities, draws from a variety of pop, underground art and musical influences and employs many instrumental textures. Unconventional song structure, humor, innuendo and wordplay are staples of his music and artwork.
Goodshank will be touring in support of the tenth anniversary LP reissue of his untitled album, on vinyl for the first time ever courtesy of Lousy Moon Records (DE) and Tiny Room Records (NL).
In 2012 & 2013 he toured Europe in support of his album "Minus Días" and co-founded the 3MB art collective with Adam Green and Macaulay Culkin. The collective recently directed and starred in a music video for Father John Misty’s song “Total Entertainment Forever,” and continues to work under their new name 4GB with the addition of Thomas Bayne. In 2014 he toured Europe and the UK as Adam Green's guitarist, and in the US and UK with The Pizza Underground as both opening act and auxiliary member.
